To the citizens of Senate District 22:

Thank you for giving me the privilege of representing you in the Colorado State senate these past five years. You have placed your trust in me during two election cycles, and I owe you a debt of gratitude for bestowing upon me that honor.

With the passing of my beautiful wife and best friend of 17 years, Kimberly Dawn Kopp, on July 30th, 2011, I have, naturally, spent considerable time reflecting on what is best for my family moving forward. While serving senate district 22 has literally been one of the most personally fulfilling opportunities I have been afforded in life, the new opportunity I am now given to invest more time and energy into my children is something that could never be compared.
